The Ichthys was a symbol of two intersecting arcs resembling a fish, derived from the Greek letters ICHTHYS, an acronym for "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior". It was used by early Christians as a secret sign of faith and a reference to biblical stories involving fish.
